Text Box: about us about us about us .

We are members of the Warwick and Worcester County Bowling Association (W.W.C.B.A.) who are one of 16 C.B.A's that comprise the British Crown Green Bowling Association (B.C.G.B.A.)

We have over 60 members, male and female ranging from 12 years old to 85 years old who between us play every day of the week (seasonal being April to September) in competitive team matches against other clubs within the West Midlands region.

We encourage both novice members and experienced players to join the club to play crown green bowls.

We also hold internal competitions throughout the season (for members only) that are designed to encourage young and novice bowlers to participate as well as to attract the more seasoned members to compete for silverware.

We are a self funded non-profit making organisation that is member run, a standard structure that comprises, a Chairman, Management Committee, Secretary, Treasurer, Club Captain, Team Captains,  Fund Raiser, Green Keepers and Competition Secretary who all meet regularly throughout the year and to keep the Club running smoothly.

Leagues we compete in

Teams are in 2 basic formats :-

1) Premier/Alliance format - this is done on a selection basis by the Captains or Selection Committee where the stronger players will be picked for the premier, therefore the advancement and 'dropping' of players between these teams will inevitably happen throughout the season depending on individual results.

2) 'A' and 'B' Format - Captains tend to pick their players from a squad on either a rotation or a result dependent format (preferably the former) therefore the 'B' side does not necessarily mean that it is the lesser of the 2 teams in terms of bowling ability, although novices and young players do tend to be placed in the 'B' side as opposing teams may not adopt this as their criteria.

Warwick and Worcester (Saturday Afternoon)  - 2 teams of 12 players in a Premier and Alliance format. The clubs top 24 available bowlers will be selected by the clubs 'Selection Committee' - This is the main game of the week  for our more competitive players. The following leagues we play in are all affiliated to this association (W.W.C.B.A.)

Northfield and District (Sunday Morning) - 2 teams of 8 players in a 'A' and 'B' team format. A less formal version of the Saturday game - with the 'B' side we do encourage the less experienced bowlers, who may not get a game on a Saturday, to compete along side the players that do. Whereas the 'A' side does tend to field all players from within the Saturday standard.

Monday Masters (Monday Morning) - Nicknamed the 'Shirkers League' due to the games being played within normal working hours, we have only 1 team of 4 players (usually experienced)

South and West Over 60's (Tuesday Morning)  - 2 teams of 8 players in a 'A' and 'B' team format. As the title suggests players have to be over 60 to compete and is one of 2 days in which this is the case. Players range from novice to very experienced.

Wednesday Super Leaque (Wednesday Evening) - 1 team of 8 ‘male only’ players. The side tends to field the best available 8 male players within the club, with no Alliance side.

Heart of England (Thursday Evening) - 2 Teams of 8 players - this has historically been a successful media for our novice players to gain both experience and confidence. With a chance to impress the Club Captain this is a very important league for the future of the Colebrook Bowling Club and therefore is not underestimated. Competing against other novices and experienced bowlers in a league simply known as 'The Friendly Bowling League'

Heart of England Over 60's (Friday Morning)  - 2 teams of 8 players in a 'A' and 'B' team format. As the title suggests players have to be over 60 to compete and is one of 2 days in which this is the case. Players range from novice to very experienced.
